Huge fan of Henry Rifles. Have 6+ and pleased with everyone of them.

My late wife,after heart surgery years ago used a Henry Youth Model Single Shot to help her with physical therapy.

My Survival rifle has had many trips to the cabin in Maine. Took a bunch of thumps,bumps and lumps and is still going 100%.

Big fan of Buck and Randall knives,also air guns.

Retired 11 years ago as an LEO,(40 yrs)before that guarded the President (not secret service) and before that was in 'Nam for three tours.

My start with the Henry Survival rifle first started (many) years ago with the original Armalite Model which was fair to good. I sold that off and a number of years later,when they first came out by Charter Arms (huge fan of CA) I obtained one of them. Unfortunately,they managed to incorporate all the bad features of the original and I soon sold that one off.

When Henry Rifle purchased the rights to the design and started to make them,I purchased one right away and had not looked back. They did a number of "tweeks" and got things just right.
I found that it functioned perfectly with a number of rounds but I preferred the CCI Mini-mags. When the survival kit became available I bought one and when the specific case came out,I bought that as well.

Top that off,I have a threaded bbl adapter to put my TAC-65 suppressor on it.

When I take the outfit out in my Hornbeck canoe (weighs only 19 lbs) I attach the case to a life preserver with a carbiner just to be safe.

So,with all the gear in the one bag,three magazines loaded and stowed in the stock plus an MTM ammo wallet with 30 more rounds basically makes me quite prepared for what northern Maine can offer.

With the can in place and using Aquila standard velocity ammo,basically the only noise is the action operating and the thump of the bullet into the backstop.

Even though the butt cap is quite secure,I put one piece of electrical tape over the back just in case. Murphy's law is alive and well and I plan ahead.

Reminds me of some time back when I was boarding a seaplane to go on an excursion. As I got in the pilot noticed my survival pack and asked;
"Are you expecting to crash?"

My reply was "Been there,done that"

Dog, you do my heart good talking about that. Thanks for the info and your choices. I will pick up an AR7 soon. I believe in it. What about your other Henrys? I shoot the steel carbine in 357. An amazingly simple and competent rifle.

Looks like you were in 'Nam just in time for "Tet". I misswed it as I was out of 'Nam by '66.

A friend of mine who passed away in '07 was Ira Hay's squad leader on Iwo Jima. The photo of the squad of Marines after the second flag raising has my friend in it. He is third from the left with his M-1 raised up.

Basically from southern New England but travel to northern Maine to the cabin on a regular basis.

I was in Chicago some years back and can underesatnd why it is called the windy city!!!!!!!!!

I live about 15/20 minutes inland. From my stop on the highway I can see the lights of Sox field, and soldier Field on a clear day.

Welcome from the lower left side of the mitten. I bought a Charter Arms AR-7 new and although I still have it I agree that it is nothing special. Have been checking out the Henry and I may have to get one for Christmas. Will have to see which list I manage to get on.

Hey Ernie,
I used to spend a total of about three weeks on Glen Lake to your north in Leelanau County. Loved it!
Large house on 40 acres which belonged to a VP I worked for during the time I lived in Chicago.
Michigan is a beautiful state which provides me with many fond memories!
