New Henry Lover

Post by Old Syko » Fri Jun 14, 2019 6:29 pm

New Old guy here. Recently started picking up some Henry's and have no idea why it took me so long. My latest is the side gate 38-55 I got a month or so ago. This is not only beautiful but a real shooter also. Got plenty of questions and hopefully I can offer a little help to others. 65 years old and been retired for nearly 12 years. Been an avid shooter since birth and a handloader for over 50 years. Just happy to still be here.

Welcome and congrats on a new Henry that's getting lots of good reviews! It's a beauty, that's for sure and glad to hear it shoots as good as it looks. Look forward to hearing more from you and how you and your Henrys are getting along. Lots of reloaders here, too, me included, so there's lots of sharing!
Welcome from KC!

Howdy and welcome. Got a question tho. Is the color on the furniture correct in the pic? I've never seen a Henry with that light shade of walnut.

No it isn't. Plain and simple, my photographic skills suck. Took that outside in the sunlight so everything is too bright. I'll pull out the old Kodak Instamatic and give it another shot. In the real world the wood is beautifully dark and even has much more character than showed up in this pic.

Thanks. I was concerned that Henry might have started using maple or something. :?

Not a Henry but a relative had some custom stocks made of a maple burl he found one of which he uses on a custom Mauser he has hunted with for a long time that is absolutely beautiful.
