Hello From PA

Hello everyone, new member here. I own several Henry rimfire lever rifles 22 and 22 mag. I've been pondering the purchase of a big boy steel carbine in 357. There is a slightly used one (16" carbine) with a receiver mounted skinner peep sight at a LGS not too far away for $700. Or for almost the same $ I could buy new and have it shipped to my local FFL. Any thoughts? I currently own a Rossi 92 carbine in 357 also and I'm very happy with it, just looking to add something new to the collection.

Welcome from the Show-Me-State, Underdog.

Good choice on a BBS Carbine in .357 caliber. My couple of thots. Even though it is pre-owned, if the receiver-mounted peep is what you would mod on a brand new rifle, I'd say go for it. You'd be $$-ahead.

Also Henry would be good to help out, if anything needed to be done on the rifle itself. Their guarantee of a satisfied customer is that good, as you may have already learned being a rimfire owner.

Let us know what you do finally purchase. A Henry Carbine would be great to add to your collection.

Welcome to the forum from KC! Glad you've decided to join us!

If a Peep sight is what you'd likely do anyway, I'm with PT7 on his assessment. It's about a $100 accessory, so, provided the rifle is in good shape, the value is there, even @ $700.

There are lots of BBS 357 owners here (both carbine and "rifle length"), as it's a very popular and fun round to shoot (not to mention reload).

Please keep us posted on what you decide to do and post pics. Pics are very popular here.

First off...Welcome to the forum!
FWIW, I bought the rifle length brand new for about $665.00. There is the additional cost of the skinner though. Personally, all considered, I would rather start out new. Good luck whatever you decide though. I love mine.. :) :D

Welcome from Nebraska. I bought my 357 carbine used. A claimed round count of 20. I have had zero complaints. I have since done a number of small mods to make it mine.

I love my rifle and know you will do well with yours.

Thank you everyone for the very warm welcome and info on the BBSC. I made an offer of $650 on the slightly used 357 with the skinner peep sight, it does have 2 small handling marks on it (one on the forearm and one on the butt stock). He very quickly refused my offer, and is standing firm at $700. So I guess I'll be buying new on this one, and thank you for everyone's help.

I think you'll be purchasing piece of mind as well. Just my opinion.
