I'm from Maryland for the time being, right on the Mason-Dixon line, just south of Gettysburg PA. Planning on escape in 2-3 years, sooner if the winds blow in the right direction.

New to the Henry experience but have two lever action Marlins that have seen a lot of service and kept the freezer full for years. Picked up a very lightly used Golden Boy last week. Came with a 3-9x40 scope mounted and some other goodies. I did not like the scope height, so replaced it with a Skinner peep since I have peep sights on other guns. Not had a chance to get to the range with it yet.

Welcome to the forum from Pa. I left Md. 28 years ago and don't miss their stupid laws one bit. You will like this forum. Lots of good folks on here that are always willing to help.

That first Henry GB will be a good experience. Cool that you went "backwards" from an optic to a peep iron sight. Happens mostly the opposite! Anyway, Henrys are quality lever-actions and I bet you will enjoy yours. Look forward to some pics and any Range Reports.

Have to ask after looking at your avatar. Have you been in the USAF under that special operation unit?

I was a PJ. Served in SE Asia and for several years in lots of interesting places thereafter. Thanks.

Were you attached under AFSOC? They do a lot of good work, including the much-needed humanitarian services. Maybe I just miss seeing it, but PJs are not that highly publicized. Think they should be more often recognized.

Welcome ! I read a book 3 or 4 years ago about PJ'S and some of their rescues. I kept saying Holy ***** after each story. Unsung hero's, indeed. I can't remember the name of the book.

There have been several books written about the Pararescue service. I have never had an interest in reading any of them although several comrades liked William Sine's Guardian Angel. We trained hard, very very hard, and did our job as best we could. Cried long over lost friends and failed missions. But that's the story of war, isn't it? A lot of good men suffered more than any PJ ever did; a lot never came home... But we did manage to bring home our share, and that's what we wanted too do.

Welcome, and Skinner sights are awesome. The Golden Boy loves em, I shoot a Golden Boy with a tang sight and an H001 with Skinner sights. Other heavier Henrys as well.

Never did AFSOC in Nam, but I was attached in the mid and late '70's for some rather 'interesting' missions. I did pull a number of missions in SE Asia 'over the fence' to extract SOC teams in trouble (which seemed to be norm for those incredible guys). Those were some really hairy missions. Worst one had every member of the SOC team shot along with myself and three other members of my chopper crew. Starting a line on wounded GIs in a moving chopper with one arm out of service was more than I trained for. That was a very nasty day, but everyone survived, which is what was important.
