Heya!
Hi! I’m Ogur! Since a few days I own a Henry H001. I live in the Netherlands, where .22 levers tend to be a bit scarse. I’m 36, married, two kids and am working on moving to Sweden. I work as a process operator at a waste power plant/ city heating plant. Other hobbies include wood carving and tending a veg garden in the back yard. I read up on hunting a lot, but don’t have a hunting license. I took up target shooting here because it is a whole lot cheaper than hunting. Also, target shooters tend to train a lot more here than hunters and I’m a firm believer in training a lot to make that one shot count. Once we move to Sweden I plan on taking up hunting though.

Welcome from Central VA. I met a Royal Dutch Marine Corporal many years ago on a Joint Operation... and we stayed in touch over the years. We always said that we would one day visit ... I have been to Rotterdam once... when I was on active duty, but that was before I met my friend GERT. He married, had two children, and I received pictures. We were going to visit...
Finally a couple years ago, he brought his two boys, 18 and 20 years old, and came to visit. Sadly, his wife had passed away from Cancer the year before. They spent nearly two weeks with my wife and I here on our small farm, and we visited many places, including Washington, DC, where they saw the Smithsonian Museum. We also visited Quantico where they visited the National Museum of the Marine Corps. I think their favorite part of the trip was my range in the back yard, and shooting the M4 223, the SIG P220 45, the Smith and Wesson 38, and the 12 Gauge Shotgun. I made them each Key Chains from the spent brass from the 45 and the M4 to take home and some extras for their friends.
Gert is a senior security officer for an Oil Company there in Holland, and has been with the company for many years.... but said that shooting is not allowed for the average citizen in Holland. His boys had never held a real firearm, although they participate in paintball leagues.

Shooting is allowed over here, but you need to jump through certain hoops. I joined a shooting club which means you have to get vetted by the police to get a declaration of good conduct. I also have to train a minimum of 18 times per year and shoot at least 5 matches per year to keep my license. That, and the mandatory weapons inspections the police might deem neccesary. I own two other rifles besides the henry. An anschutz 1407 match 54 and a marlin 336SC in .30-30.
It’s really comparing two completely different worlds if you look at the US and the European countries. Not that that’s a bad thing per se.

Welcome to the forum Ogur. I bet that Anschutz can put some lead on target. But you are right in that you can't really compare it to a Henry.

Going to the range for me, is a lot easier...
Walk out back.. When I was practicing for Police Pistol Matches, I even had barricades on the range. I have since removed those to make mowing easier.
These days, it's a bit more relaxed... more pleasure shooting... and just keeping a hand in to make sure I can still put them in the black.
We do value our firearms freedoms here, and will continue to fight those that try and steal them away, one small piece at a time.
