New member first time Henry rifle owner

Hello from the great Southwest. Great forum that I didn't discover until after buying my Henry H0006M. It's definitely chock full of information. Is there an archived version of the old forum I've read about on this forum? If so, a link would be appreciated.
I bought my Henry on September of this year and took it out to shoot on my birthday, five days later. On the exterior the rifle is as close to perfection as you could get. It reminded me of the same quality as my early 80s Weatherby Mark V Deluxe. There was no comparison between it and the other brands of lever action rifles that I tried. It instantly felt great in my hands and instinctively came to point of aim. The action was exactly as described here and other reviews, i.e., buttery smooth. I bought both .357 magnum and .38 special A-Zoom snap caps prior to shooting it to practice working the action. It was virtually flawless. The only issue I initially experienced was the difficulty in latching the inner magazine tube as well as unlatching. A total of three salesmen had the same difficulty with another Henry rifle at another store; as well as, the 6'6" salesman at the store where I bought my rifle. I chalked this experience up to the fact that maybe there was some sort of "o" ring break in time then the issue would vanish.
As mentioned above I took her out shooting on my birthday. I had heard on Youtube that other shooters' rifles shot high when they first shot them so I used a 6:00 hold at the bottom of the bull. Much to my surprise, the windage was perfect and I was 1/2" to 3/4" low at 15 yds! I moved out to 25 yds, all off hand standing, and two of the three shots were overlapping each other and the third about 3/4" away. I was literally astounded because I had shot a Winchester Model 94 Trapper in .44 Magnum in the early 90s at a much closer distance, and it wasn't nearly as accurate. I attributed the accuracy of the Henry to the barrel length, weight, and caliber. I played around with different sighting alignments, speed shooting, etc. But then it happened on the 36th round which I won't go into detail on here. Suffice it to say that the CS is excellent, as is mentioned in everything read or heard about Henry lever action rifles. The rifle is back with Henry, took 8 days to get there. The last issue is disturbing. I have photos but I don't know if new members have photo posting priveleges. I don't want to mention more as I believe Henry Repeating Arms should be given the opportunity to resolve the issue first. I won't make any disparaging comments as I believe Henry wouldn't intentionally sell a rifle if they were aware of this issue. But it has certainly put a damper on my initial enthusiasm and has caused me to question their QC when it comes to final inspection of their product. The issue with my rifle has been mentioned before on this forum but I never expected to experience it with a brand new rifle whose company appears to pay such close attention to detail and quality.

welcome to the forum .... sorry to hear you are having a problem with your Henry .... as you have noted, Henry provides outstanding customer service .... whatever they problem is, they will resolve it .... on this forum we welcome threads authored to stimulate conversations among friends .... we have no patience with threads authored to provoke angry responses .... that's not a problem because, as you will note from reading, we don't have any of those to worry about .. .. please take a look at our How Many ? thread (link below) and add your Henry to our community's total

Welcome to the forum. You can have full confidence that the issue you experienced will be resolved to your satisfaction.

As for the problem with the inner magazine tube, just put a tiny drop of gun oil on the pin when you get it back. That should take care of it immediately.

I once had an issue with my 357. It went back to Henry in NJ. On the way it made a wrong stop to a neighboring PO. Henry sent a rep to the PO to retrieve my gun. They fixed the issue and returned the rifle. Im sure yours will be taken care of. Welcome from Colorado. Al

My own opinion is that HRA's business has seen a spike in demand the last year or so, and with that increase in sales they are having a few growing pains in the QC dept. But I will say that HRA is very responsive to customers concerns and I'd be surprised if they don't take good care of you. There's not many companies out there where you can call the President and discuss your issue if needed.

Sorry about your issue and welcome. I have not had the opportunity to fire a Henry yet. I am hoping things will be smooth. I am buying one due to its new finish. It seems well made. I wanted something that would last for years to come and handle business when duty calls.

If you have the time, or maybe you’ve already done it, I would suggest reading through the past threads on this forum that discuss the possible issues. There aren’t really that many and both of mine had been discussed within these forums. I just didn’t find this forum until after I bought mine. There’s a wealth of information here.

Thanks ShootinTheCinders. I will take another cruise. From what I have gather so far, there didn't seem to be many issues as you pointed out. I skimmed through the forum before I put the rifle on lay-away. But, I could have had tunnel vision. I may did not want to find any issues.
