Hello, I'm from central Massachusetts, and am not a fan of Tom Brady. I'm in my mid-70's, and my vision is still holding up OK enabling me to still shoot pretty well with iron sights, both buckhorn and peep. I am a competitive shooter in '03 Springfield and M1 Garand matches. I have been shooting Garands since I was in the Navy in the early 1960's. Never had a problem loading the enbloc clip into the receiver, that is, until 2 months. Since then I have been sporting an "M1 Thumb".
Although I own several high powered bolt action rifles and one semi (Garand), the most fun type rifle for me is a lever action. I own and frequently shoot the following:
1. Henry .22
2. Savage model 99, .303 Savage, manufactured in 1903. My grandfather was a hunting and fishing guide in New York State's Adirondack Mountains from the mid-1890's through the late 1930's. This was his favorite rifle. it is a tack driver at 100 yards, a Hornady 180 gr RN Interlock bullet sitting atop 30 grns. of Accurate 2520.
3. Marlin 1895 Cowboy in .45-70. This, too, is Tack driver using 405 gr hard cast lead bullets and 32 grs of 4198, and
4. Henry .44 mag Big Boy (bronze). This my newest rifle, and I thoroughly enjoy reloading for it, and shooting it. Not great accuracy as yet, but I'm working on it

I do not own any type of AR rifle. Some people say I am a contrarian, but I'm not; I'm simply a traditionalist.

Welcome from Central Va. I shot the Garand in the Corps, though my issued rifle was always the M16. The rifle team had a few match Garands in the rack, and I enjoyed shooting them, very accurate. We shot the M14s in competition however, due to the ease of loading the box mags, and the fire two, then fire eight mag changes.

I'm somewhat of a traditionalist, but not exclusively. I do own a plastic bottom feeder Ruger for carry. I even like it.

I tend to prefer revolvers, 1911s, bolt actions, and lever actions. The Henry BBS in .357 is probably my favorite. I recently picked up a 1911 and that is quickly working it's way up the ladder.
