Congrats on your Golden Boy....it's a great Henry rifle.

A short while ago (link below from March, 2017), I posted a couple of very interesting threads about a focused "torture" test against the Golden Boy. It was done with the Henry president's go ahead. You might find it enjoyable to read what your rifle can do in the extreme.

Thanks for the welcomes and for the links. I'll sit down and do some reading when I find some time. I haven't even put a round through the GB yet...hoping to get out with my wife this weekend. I'm not just new to the site, I am new to guns as well. I have used various .177 and .22 pellet guns for years, but Canada's gun control/laws always made me shy away from "real" guns. My dad gave me a rusty, crusty old non-functional .22 a few months ago, which finally pushed me off the fence...now I had to start the process of getting my license.
I brought the old gun home, stripped it, cleaned it, and fixed a couple of issues (firing pin was jammed), then took it outside. Lo and behold, the old girl works! Shoots pretty good, too. That's where the bug bit me...I went out and bought a 10/22 and got addicted. Quiet rounds are nice, but they won't cycle in the 10/22. If I have to cycle manually, I might as well get a lever, and look cool while I'm doing it, right? I read many positive things about the Henrys in general, but especially the action...reading the word "butter" so many times made me hungry.

Welcome to the forum from the Shenandoah Valley - great story - congrats on the GB - a fantastic 22LR rifle - the more you shoot it the smoother it gets. We shoot quiet 22LRs thru ours sometimes and it's a blast (well, maybe a quiet blast). If your wife gets a hold of it you may have to get another one for yourself.....

Tractortad...I think she'll prefer the 10/22, but if she takes a liking to the GB, I'm ok with that...gives me a reason to pick up another one. I've been wanting to try something chambered for .17HMR. Either that, or another .22...maybe a bolt this time. The old .22 that dad gave me is a pump (Remington model 121 Fieldmaster).

RanchRoper...I haven't been out to Alberta in years. Lots of family in the North.

I bought my wife an H001L recently and it is her favorite rifle. She doesn't care much for my son's 10/22. She won't even try it I also actually like the Henry much better than the Ruger.

I got to use the Henry a bit on the weekend. It seemed to shoot tighter than the 10/22, but needed some sight adjustments. Out of the box, it was shooting about 6" low and 2" right at 25yds. Height adjustment is easy enough, but I was worried a bit about attempting the left/right. Thankfully, Henry made this pretty easy (where's that worship smiley when you need it?).

I may have a bit of an issue that I am going to keep an eye on. I want to make sure it is not ammo related, or something I'm doing/not doing. After loading, sometimes the first round won't chamber.

Just an update to my earlier post: I got to put some more miles on the Henry last night, and had no more issues chambering the first round after loading. Between the two .22s, we went through ~400 cartridges of various makes and velocities plinking and playing darts.
