New from East Tennessee
Hello everyone, After searching for almost a year I finally have a new 45/70 All-Weather on the way and wanted to join the party here. This is my first Henry but definitely not my first lever gun. The Henry will be replacing a Marlin 336 in 35 Remington that I received new as a Christmas present about 38 years ago. My Marlin is in excellent condition and has considerable sentimental value to me and I have decided to retire it to safe duty. It will still make a few range trips occasionally but the Henry will be what I’m carrying in the woods this coming deer season. Thanks for having me here and I will definitely be an active member of the community.

Welcome from the Detroit burbs. I to retired my 35 rem a few years ago. I went with a Kimber .308. But now I'm looking forward to my Henry 6.5 next deer season.

Re: New from East Tennessee
welcome indeed .... delighted to have you join our community .... our Henry 45-70 has proven to be one heck of a rifle .... not knowing your tolerance for recoil, its difficult to make an ammo recommendation .... what most folks find to be harsh recoil is generated by dangerous game level ammo .... cowboy action ammo produces less powerful bullets but is much more comfortable to fire ..... inside of 100 yards, cowboy action bullets can take down white tails .... if you plan to load your own, you should be able to find one that fits your needs .... be sure to follow the link below to where you can add your Henry to our community's total

Welcome from Eastern Washington State. You retired a classic and replaced it with a future classic. Well done!
