Welcome to the forum. I don't have that caliber but there are many that do, I am sure someone will get you the information you need.

Welcome! And, I echo Cofisher; even though, I do not have a 45-70. The rifle is guaranteed for life. As long as you follow the owner’s manual, you should not have an issue with Henry servicing it, if it does not perform in the future.

agree with the clean and shoot recommendation .... if you aren't used to firing strong kickers, recommend you start with cowboy action loads and work your way up .... our Henry 45-70 has proven to be a really good shooter .... be sure to follow the link bellow to add yours to our community's total

Besides shooting, buy a couple packs of snap caps and spend some quality time working the action/dryfiring while watching tv or whatever. Lot's cheaper than spending several hundred dollars on live ammo just to work in the internal moving parts.

Welcome! As BigAl said, just shoot it, then clean it.
