Hello from Roan Mountain, Tennessee
Just got my first Henry rifle. What a sweet rifle it is. Its a Silverboy .22 LR. The story behind this is; after my Dad passed away (6 years ago) my Mom sold the family hunting cabin/ family retreat. My Dad my brother and myself built this place. My Grandfather drew up the plans, so it was totally built with only our family mostly on weekends. We've had the property since the early 60's. Now this place is where we have all hunted since then. My Grandfather started hunting up there before there were even roads or highways to get there. It was my Dad's favorite place on earth. He was a total gun nut, and passed those genes down. My brother and I kept the place up as best we could, but once I moved up here the place stated to get a bit neglected, so my Mom sold it. It was tough for all of us, but she feels better now.
So I bought this nice little rifle in remembrance of my Dad and the Cabin. So every time I pick this Silverboy up I can remember those times. I raised my kids up there, and, taught all of them to shoot, and hunt. Someday this rifle will be handed down to one of them. It might sound kinda sappy to most, but to me it just felt right.
Happy to be part of this forum.

Welcome. It didn't sound sappy to me. But I have a question, how are you going to decide who gets the rifle?
Of course is you have around here long enough you will realize that the simple solution is to end up with enough Henrys for all of you children to have one.

Welcome from the Show-Me-State.
Sad that the "family hunting cabin/ family retreat" is now sold, but great that you've wrapped up those memories in the Henry Silverboy.
One of those kids will be a happy camper someday. Thanks for sharing your cool story.
Hack is right; the other kids will probably end up with more Henrys you'll get down-the-road, and maybe even some centerfires!

No Ghost up here yet, but there is a legend about a Panther up here. Funny thing is they just had a sighting of a Mountain lion about 16 miles from here. 1st one confirmed in over 100 years.
