Howdy from Missouri

Post by Panfisher » Sat Jan 30, 2021 5:15 pm

Well since I just purchased a new Henry, figured I out to join the forum too. In April I had surgery on right shoulder, cancer cost me about 5 inches of humerus and my shoulder joint,,niw is titanium and plastic. So I decided that I wasn't going to be shooting heavy kickers any more and cleaned out the gun safe of them. Having a little cash to work with I have been buying a new gun or two with an eye to low recoil. One thing I have wanted for many years was a .357 lever gun. Last Saturday I walked into a small gun shop and walked around finding nothing that really excited me. I did see some levers on a rack and asked if they had any in .357 Mag. Guy looks and says no, then spots a Henry Box leaning against the wall. He picks it up and reads the end, got one here that we haven't even put out yet, haven't even made a tag for it. He unwraps a Big Boy Steel Carbine, I fondled it a bit and thanked him and left. Made it about 2 miles maybe down the highway before turning around and going back. The owner saw me come in and laughed, picked up the box that he was just finishing the tag for. 10 minutes later it was mine. The owner did quietly say he had a couple boxes of ammo in the back if I needed it. Nope, I have a GP100 and Taurus 605 and some reloading stuff so I am good. Got home and dug out an old box if reloads, the rifle choked on the first few rounds, a quick shot of lube in the workings and never an issue since. It is a pure joy to shoot with light loads and if it quits raining I will drop the hammer on a couple of 180 grain WFNGC reloads with 13 gn of H110 and see how my shoulder likes that. Oddly happy side story, after buying the carbine I went looking through my reloading shelves and found a jug each of HS-7 and H110, good day.
