Hi!

Post by Stets » Sun Jan 17, 2021 8:46 am

New member here from sunny Florida. Recently purchased my lever gun ever. Hrnry HO10 in 45-70, intended for use on hogs in close quarters here in the palmetto scrub. Go big or go home! Lol i also reload rifle and pistol.. reloading and casting makes shooting the 45-70 much more affordable for sure.

JEBar, so far i like 14 grains of trail boss behind a 350 hard cast for the range. For the hogs i load 300 gr barnes TSX HPs on top of XBR. Thumps me and the piggies pretty hard!

as to the thumping on both ends, of that I have no doubt .. :!: .. for our 45-70 I've settled on 300 gr Nosler Ballistic Silvertip bullets pushed by IMR 4198 .... for hunting 51.5 gr .... 44 gr for all range/target use .... the 44 gr load has a fairly flat trajectory out to 100 yards and is actually a pleasure to shoot
