New from New Hampshire

Hi,
Just bought a Long Ranger in .243 Win. It's my first Henry and I'm really impressed with the quality of this gun. I sold my Browning BLR (.30-06) to buy the Henry.
I have a few centerfire bolt rifles and a pump in different calibers, and wanted a lighter shooting lever gun for still hunting deer here in the NH woods.
The wood on the Henry stock is surprisingly beautiful and the workmanship top notch.
The only thing I found to be irksome is the magazine release. If the magazine is full, it's easier to remove, but empty, it's tougher. I finally took some steel wool to the sides of the magazine to remove the flat black finish which is very "tactile". I didn't touch the rifle itself - (I can always buy a new magazine if I screwed it up). That made removal much easier - smoothed the finish and took a few thou off the size.
Added a Vortex Diamondback to it and sighted it in with factory ammo a few days ago. I'm delighted with the way it shoots. I'm now working up some loads of my own to try next week.
Most of the gun manufacturers have forums and I'm on some. So I did a quick search for a Henry Forum and found this one. Glad to be a member.

Welcome from the Monadnock Region! How long a wait for your new Henry?
Hi PJM,
I bought the Henry on GunBroker, so only a few days wait. The real wait was watching prices on them for a few weeks until one showed that looked good!
Good to hear from the western part of the state. I'm over in Londonderry along Rt. 93.

Thanks to all for the warm welcome!!
