It took 60 years...but I finally made it

Hello everyone! I Bought my first Lever action...a Long Ranger in 223. I Picked it up last week, unfortunately there is an issue ( some cracks ) in the stock, so I am in a holding pattern until a new one comes in.
I mounted a SWFA 3-15X42 scope with "extra" low talley rings. I knew by reading I wanted the scope low, and I wasn't sure the "42" objective lens was going to fit with the extra low rings, but it does fit no problem. Maybe the only issue is eye relief. The way those rings mount to the receiver, doesn't leave you much leeway, back and forth. So I am up against my turret on the forward ring. But it seems to be fine right there. I realize that scope is probably over kill, but my eyes aren't the best anymore, and it's what I had available. It's been over a week since I talked to Henry CS, so hopefully I receive that new stock soon.
In the meantime thanks for all the great knowledge this site has to offer.

Welcome to the forum. Hey, 60 is the new 40
Look into extension rings if you need to move your scope beyond what the turret restrictions are creating. Not sure if they are available in extra low however.
.223 is a fun caliber with a huge selection of bullets available if you reload or if not, an incredible amount of choices in factory ammo too.
Hope you get your stock issue worked out quickly.

60 is the new 40...I like that! My wife thinks I'm a teenager anyway, I'll have to tell her I'm more mature now.
No I do not hunt, nor do I reload. I would love to get into reloading when I retire, but just no time currently. For now It's just a range toy and checks a couple of boxes of never having a lever action or a Henry before. I bought 223 mainly because I have a decent stockpile of that caliber and it was available at a decent price...crazy times. I hope to get to the range next weekend.

Welcome from Nebraska. I kinda like the idea of reaching out there with the 223. Enjoy your rifle. Show us your new stock when it arrives.

RifleTom...yes one reason I was looking for a 223 was because I have some extra 223 amo that is burning a hole in my pocket, I agree I think it will be a hoot to shoot.
Thanks everybody for the warm welcome. I will post pics, maybe some before and after when I receive the new stock. I am curious if they will send the forend as well the butt stock, so it's a matching set? Anyway I'm anxious to get it out to the range. I expect (hope) it will come in this week some time. I am also waiting on a Kimber 1911 that I was able to shoot all of one time. I am waiting on a recall fix for it as well. Patience is a virtue... patience is a virtue....patience
