The big silver moose is located in Østerdalen, a long valley midway between Oslo and Trondheim, the capital and ex-capital of Norway, which are 500 km (300 miles) apart. That particular stretch of road is quite remote, and there is a lot of wildlife, including moose/elk. To avoid that drivers become too tired and fall asleep (and crash with the moose) on this remote part of Norway, and as a publicity stunt, the local authorites have established a number of rest areas for car- and lorrydrivers. One of these has the big silver elk, to make people stop and take photos :D, and to loosen up and rest a little before they drive on.

Is the "Made in China" stamp easily seen?!?

At your link, this was sure a scenic view of the silver moose (Foto taken by Linda Bakke).
Thanks for the interesting post and cool photos, Mgr.
