New guy from Idaho/Washington.
Bought my first ever Henry a couple of months ago and am loving it!
I'm 52, been carrying a gun since I was 12, and decided I needed a quick and handy carbine for taking into the Idaho woods berry picking, mushroom hunting, and hiking and camping.
Bought a Marlin 1894 .45 Colt Remlin in 2017. Modified it to accept a light and a red dot sight. Worked OK, but was heavy, the action was like pulling a spoon through a bucket of marbles, and did I mention it was heavy?
So, replaced it with an AR-15 in .450 Bushmaster. It also worked well, but it was heavy, and the AR design is just cumbersome.
Was at my local gun shop in November when I spotted the Henry Big Boy X in .45 Colt on the shelf. Love at first sight! Price was $799. Thought that was a bit much, so passed it up. Every time I went to check for ammo or primers, the Henry was still there.
Finally went online and looked up prices. Seemed that finding one for under $1000 was difficult, so I went to the gun shop and used my military discount to buy it for $799 out the door.
Added a few goodies and it is now the perfect carbine for the woods around here.

Welcome from Nebraska. Sounds like you know what you like. Enjoy that 45!
Remember, it's not how many guns you have. It's how many bullets you have.

Re: New guy from Idaho/Washington.
Welcome, I am glad to see another X owner who puts a light on it. I camp in the woods with a BBX .44 Mag and I figure the likelihood of needing to use it at night is fairly high. Have you thought about adding a linear compensator? .... https://henryrifleforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=9601

Re: New guy from Idaho/Washington.
There are some SGT members from that direction - I actually sold a bunch of .480R components to a guy in Moscow. I like Palouse, it’s a beautiful setting. Join up, it is a great way to buy, sell and trade ammo and components during this big “ammo drought”. It is VERY active.... https://www.spokaneguntrader.com/index.php
