Re: Country Smokers Wood Pellet Grill and Smoker
UPDATE :
we continue to use the heck out of our Traveler .... the only construction issue we've had with it has been the felt seal between the lid and body ..... after a while the film that holds the seal to the lid separates from the felt and gravity alone will pull the seal away from the lid .... a while back I ordered a self sticking Nomex High Temp BBQ gasket smoker pit seal from Amazon ===> https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00SW ... UTF8&psc=1 .... my intention was to order the black seal but ended up getting a white one ..... don't figure it really matters, it will probably turn black rather quickly .... as can be seen below the OEM seal on one side of the lid is still secure so I've left it in place .... there is more than sufficient seal in the pack than it takes .... in the hope of having the replacement last a while we did spend a good deal of time and effort in removing the grease from where the new seal is installed .... it'll be interesting to see how it goes

Re: Country Smokers Wood Pellet Grill and Smoker
I have a few smokers and a gas Vermont castings gas grill and in the winter here at 7000 feet it gets pretty cold for a few months. Last week I bought this; a Waylander Welding Felt Carbon Fiber Welding Blanket 3'x3' Made in USA 1800°F High Temperature Resistant, and I believe it is going to be great to throw over the smokers on those cold days. This material feels almost like cashmere it is so soft and it is much thicker than I thought it would be.
I got it here on Amazon...

interesting blanket .... does you location's altitude make it difficult to maintain temperature in your smoker ..

Re: Country Smokers Wood Pellet Grill and Smoker
The altitude definitely makes it harder to get higher temperatures without some modifications. I drilled out the jets on the Vermont castings propane grill and on my offset Oklahoma Joe smoker I put a small squirrel cage blower with a rheostat over the smoke box vent hole and that really gives me total control over the temp in normal weather but we like to grill and smoke year around so this blanket should help a lot.

One thing I have notice with our Travelers is it wont regulate the heat like the memphis pellet grill will here at home. Ive used the Memphis grill when its zero outside and when you set the temp on it its there and stays there. But the Travelers still does a good job when Ive used it in the 5er. I like it alot.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

Re: Country Smokers Wood Pellet Grill and Smoker
understood on the temp swings related to the cycle in adding pellets and activating the blower .... I've noticed that the longer the time the grill is in operation, the smaller the temp swing .... at first I worried about it but no longer consider it to be an issue .... yesterday it ran for 6.5 hours in preparing the ribs shown above the bottom line is, it puts out really good food .... hence the reason I no long pay any attention to it

There great Gene. I bought one to replace the propane grill I carried in the 5er. Id rather use the wood pellets anyday to be bothered with those little bottles or hooking up a line to the propane bottles in the trailer. Id sure think when you use your little trailer you could find a place for it to go with you and a bag of pellets last a long time.
