Interesting. Ive never had a oyster in me life... i have tried fried mountain oysters so one wouldnt think i would be to good to eat a slimy looking sea oyster. They must be good the way people eat them.. but far back here in the hills far from the big blue waters they are not that commom (or fresh) i would expect. I suppose one could get some in a can but not sure how fair a test that would be.... might be sort of like esting a can of sardines and thinking you knew what fresh walleye tasted like...
Oh well.... perhaps someday the oppurtunity will arish for some for some nice fresh oysters.... time will tell...... interesting the experiences that can yet await an old man...

Re: Oysters
I used to eat raw oysters on the half shell all the time when living around Galveston Bay. Since moving inland, I haven't had the urge as I'm not sure the restaurants locally can prepare them correctly. I will eat fried oysters locally. Good stuff!

No prep, other than to shuck them. Add your favorite garnish, then down the hatch.Shakey Jake wrote: ↑Fri Feb 03, 2023 8:27 amI'm not sure the restaurants locally can prepare them correctly.

Re: Oysters
this afternoon we steamed and shucked 2 bushels of oysters from the North Carolina Coast .... the last picture shows some that have been reserved to make oyster stew .... personally I'm not a fan of oyster stew but I happily reduced the cleaned oyster pile
