for background info see ===>

we have a Green Mountain Davy Crockett Smoker/Grill on order ===>
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078RXH95C/ref= .... we hope to be able to use this smoker/grill for many year .... accordingly, I'm starting a separate thread in which any good, any bad, or any ugly info and observations made over time .... as noted in the other thread, some of its features that were important to us are :
the pellet bin is a separate box from the rest of the grill/smoker .... I don't want another with the pellet bin under the same lid like the one in our Traveler
I like the WiFi control system
the folding legs that become a carrying handle will help me move it around
with the legs extended. the height of the grilling surface allows the person doing the cooking to do so while seated
it fit our price range
it has solid positive reviews on every platform we found
we ordered several extras like a weather cover, pizza oven and winter heat jacket .... per Amazon things should start arriving tomorrow and everything should be here within the next week

Looks like a nice cooker. I’m thinking about getting something but not quite sure what. I’ll be following this thread or the other one.

there are several brands that have similar units out there .... for a home unit I'd want the next size up .... beside having a considerably larger cooking area, they can accommodate more cooking options, one example is a rotisserie

It sure is nice not to be worried about if you have enough propane and if the bottles you have are not outdated. You can buy pellets almost anywhere now and you cant beat the smoke flavor of the wood pellets. I dont own a gas grill anymore and would not even go back to one if ours quit. That size you bought Jim would work for us here at home its just me and the wife no need for the bigger size. Besides that its portable and as long as we have the trailer we could use in at home and when we are gone. Ive had this Memphis grill for over 10 years and its still going strong. I replaced the fire pot in it last year took me about 10 mines to do that. We use it more that the stove in the kitchen

hadn't thought about it but you are absolutely correct .... since going to a pellet grill and electrical cooking equipment our propane use in our camper has sharply decreased .... we used to go through three or so 40lb tanks during our yearly stays in South Dakota and Texas .... now days we go through less than one tank

that's pretty much the same for us .... our single daughter and her son eat with us most every night ... it wasn't much of a problem to fix enough us on our former Traveler .... grilling steaks for us wasn't a problem but trying to bake 4 taters at the same time could be .... the grilling area in our Traveler was much smaller than the one in a Davy Crockett .... we do plan to order a set of "Upper & Lower Sliding PMG Rack System 2 Racks" ====>
https://pimpmygrill.com/davy-crockett-t ... m-2-racks/ .... that system will allow us to grill twice as many racks of Baby Back's and double the amount of many other things

the Pizza Oven Attachment for our coming Davy Crockett smoker grill is due to be delivered today ... this will be the first time I've actually seen one .... it won't take long to make sure the related accessories we have will fit or will need to be returned

After retirement I took a part time job at the Main Street hardware store 3 blocks from my house.
We are a distributor of GMG products.
Let’s just say that I got a smoking price on my Jim Bowie.
Got a rotisserie attachment too. Along with a rib rack and a riser rack.
Next up is the pizza box.
Here’s my set up and I’m ready for the rains to be over so we can use the backyard more.

the Jim Bowie series has an excellent reputation .... hopefully yours is serving you well .... I hate that ours is too small for a rotisserie .... we have found a solid company that offers good quality aftermarket accessories for Green Mountain grill/smokers .... an example ===>

oven arrived as promised .... first impression was positive .... as unpacking the box I noted that the parts seem to be well designed and solidly built .... the last item was another box which contained the pizza stone .... opened a flap and as can be seen below, the stone arrived broken .... boxed the whole thing back up and its already on its way back to Amazon .... replacement should be here on the 28th

We sell those pimp your grill grates at our store too.
With all the room I have in the Bowie, I don’t think I need them yet…
For the Davy Crocket they would come in handy.

I have played with them a little bit.
They will triple your cooking surfaces as long as you are not cooking say a whole chicken.
I will take some pictures of the rack system later this week when I work my shifts and post the pictures for you.
They seem like they will work good but I don’t have any practical experience cooking with them.

information and offer appreciated .... with the Davy Crockett being so much smaller, their will only be 2 shelves and as you note, racks of ribs should it but whole hams and such won't

a few more odds & ends arrived ... the biggest physically is the grill cover .... only 3 items are yet to be delivered .... 2 of the 3 are among the most important, the grill itself left Chicago, IL yesterday at 10:07 PM .... current location unknown .... the replacement Pizza Oven got to the Amazon facility in Trenton, New Jersey at 6:18 AM this morning .... the 3-pack of Reusable Non-Stick Grill Mats has yet to be shipped .... with any luck the grill and pizza oven may arrive here late this week

I’m 3 hours in on a rack of ribs right now.
Using the 3-2-1 method again.
Fresh on the smoker
After 3 hours @ 180
Preparing for the 2 hours @ 225, wrapped in foil. Turning over and adding, brown sugar, butter and apple juice.
