Re: Davy Crockett Smoker/Grill
another gremlin has appeared .... at high temps (350 and up), the thermostat maintains a very stable temp .... at low temps like 225 degrees, not so much .... the temp bounces between 220 and 300+ degrees .... was told by customer service that our grill needs a software update .... we decided to set it up to work with our MiFi instead of with our home internet provider .... that proved to be a problem because the name Verizon gave our MiFi had more dashes and symbols that than smoker is capable of handling .... once the rain lets up we will go back out to the garage and call Green Mountain in an effort to get our grills software updated

Re: Davy Crockett Smoker/Grill
I just ordered a three upgrade items for our Davy Crockett grill/smoker from a company named Pimp My Grill .... a plus with them is no additional sales tax or shipping charges :
the first is a Davy Crockett / Trek GMG - Upper & Lower Sliding PMG Rack System 2 -- https://pimpmygrill.com/davy-crockett-t ... m-2-racks/
the second is their Davy Crocket / Trek Front Shelf / Bodyguard -- https://pimpmygrill.com/davy-crocket-tr ... bodyguard/
the third is a roll of Smoker Gasket Seals Self-Adhesive High Temp Sealing -- https://pimpmygrill.com/smoker-gasket-s ... tape-15ft/
in and info exchange with them a few minutes ago I learned that these things are in stock and should ship Monday from San Diego and take about a week to get to us .... if that proves to be correct, they will arrive about a week before we head for South Dakota for the summer .... other than, as mentioned earlier, upgrading the 12V wire end plugs, I don't foresee any making any other mods

I guess I can still read a tape measure .. .. with us camping this coming weekend we loaded the Davy Crockett smoker grill into the camper for the first time .... this weekend's tow will serve as a test to make sure old Davy is comfortable ..

Re: Davy Crockett Smoker/Grill
when it comes to our Davy Crockett smoker/grill, its been an interesting few days .... electrical upgrades have been completed ....
Pictures 1 - 3 show the replacement plug on the back of the grill
Picture 4 shows the other cords .... one has a red and black gator clip on one in and a female cigarette lighter plug on the other .... the second is a long cord that has an OEM male lighter plug on one end and a replacement two prong plug on the other ....
with these cords the grill can be run from a standard 110 outlet, an auto female lighter plug, or directly from a battery terminal connection
Pictures 5 - 6 shows the replacement control unit .... after replacing it we were able to connect Maureen's iPhone and remotely run the grill

Re: Davy Crockett Smoker/Grill
tonight we cooked our first pizzas in the Pizza Oven Attachment for our Davy Crockett smoker grill .... the pizzas are 10" diameter .... picture 5 shows the bottom of the crust of the pizza shown in picture 4 .... cooking them didn't prove to be very difficult and lessons were learned that will make next time even easier

Re: Davy Crockett Smoker/Grill
for our first effort, it really was ... I like cheddar cheese and learned that I need to cut back on the amount I put on my pizza .... other than that, the other items blended well

Just dropped a couple of Cornish Game Hen’s on the Jim Bowie.
Getting closer. About 155 degrees right now.
