Once my order for 2500 is ready that will give me lots of lead for a long time. I have enough caps to get through until suppliers catch up, with a flintlock as plan B.

Got the .490 and.495 balls I ordered from October Country. I must say they are really well done. I will be ordering more from them when I need more. They a sprueless which is really nice.

How critical is lead quality and the ratio of lead to tin? I had a pile of damaged ammunition, .22 misfires, etc and melted down the bullets and saved the lead. I tried molding some .50 cal balls but they had some ripples in them. I attributed this to not preheating the mood. Could it be that the lead mix I am using is no good. I haven’t actually shot blackpowder yet. Have to build my rifle first.
