You would be lucky if you could find one for triple that now. I see them go for 6 to 800.00. Some higher than that.

My rifle went for $344 in 1979. That was a lot more than the other .50 cal Hawkins gun at that time.

Heres one of mine moetur. 54 Caliber. built by John Bergmann. Hes in Granville TN. I have a couple of his guns. Great guy does nice work.

It shoots better than I can. I dont hunt much with them but I sure do like ringin steel with one.

Couldn't wait for spring! The first 3 shots out of the box with 35 gr of pyrodex p and roundball at 26 yards off hand. Absolute hoot to shoot.

Great new out-of-the-box range report, PJM. In particular, the pistol sights are well-aligned for windage.
How did you like the powder load you used? Any fine-tuning in the wind?
I know exactly what that hoot-to-shoot experience is with the Trapper. Glad you didn't wait for spring

Thanks! The recoil is minimal as the gun is well balanced, and a real pleasure. Next warm day I will try some conicals and see how they fly. Will try 40 grs to start as they are heavier than round ball. Also have some sabots which the quick twist of this gun may well stabilize. Looks like a warm day next week.
