Just looking for advice from people who have had experiebce with it. Im thinkingvof gettinf a repro 1851 navy colt to shoot blackpowder.
Im also interested in looking into getting a vonversion cylinder to put on it so it will shoot cowboy loads. I've heard the cylinders can be a little pricy.
I hunt sometimes with a traditional muzzleloder, and enjoy shooting it. (Don't like the cleaning part! But ya got to do that if ya use um). I could see where it might be easier to clean a pistol than a rifle , cause at least you could better see everything once you had it apart.... but i was wondering about expense of shooting both the black powder and using a conversion cylinder. Thanks.

I've seen the ones for the 1858 Remington's, and they average $200.
I want one for mine, but as of yet haven't ponied up for one. ;)
I have a couple of '51 also, but haven't seen a conversion cylinder for those.

Make sure that you get a steel framed revolver.
