Just finished a 1851 Navy 36 cal kit from Dixie Gun Works. The kit came in pretty rough shape as you can tell from the photos. Could have finished it off in a few hours if I used my Dremel to sand all the roughness out. Being from the old school I decided to do it by hand started with 250 grit and finished it with 2000.Took me 1 month to finish the sanding. The wood girp was easy to sand to the right shape so I added a bit of bling to it. Here's the finished gun. Sorry photos are not in order.

Check out the bottom of my post for a Traditions Kentucky Rifle I built for a friend I just added. Sorry I just found some photos of it.

A lot of work, for sure, but the gun looks great. Congrats. Hope you get a chance to shoot it, soon.

Wow that was a lot of polishing to get that brass looking great! Nice job! Is the bore size the same as a .38?

It's true I dont shoot black powder. But I love to built black powder kits This is a Traditions Kentucky Rifle I built for a friend who shoots black powder.
Thought I would add a bit of bling to it, he didn't seem to mind one bit.He says it a great.shooter. Sorry for the srappy photo

FYI the bear in the photo was given to me by my chemo nurses after my 14th and last treatment. Had stage 4 colon and liver cancer. God looked down on me and have been cancer free for almost 2 years. Prayers really work.

God Bless and Merry Christmas
