Pedersoli Frontier .50

Post by RanchRoper » Sat Nov 21, 2020 9:08 pm

New rifle....very nice indeed. Just got home not too long ago and wiped it down with rem oil cloth. Picked up 4 bottles of Ballistol as well, and a real nice hand made in Alberta buffalo hide possibles bag my wife wants to give me for Christmas. The rifle is very well balanced with that long barrel. Shoulders real nice. Sights are interesting. Bought a fiberglass ramrod as well that fits the rifle for range days. Set trigger is cool, the pull is feather light once set. Wood is actually quite nice too. Case colored parts look real good.

we all fired 50 ca round balls when our family was active in a black powder club .... our kids enjoyed trick shooting like splitting a round ball on bptan axe edge and busting a skeet placed on each side .... both boys took deer with their rifles and I managed to put some in the cooler as well

Deja vu, all over again! I had one back when I was doing muzzleloading. Bought it used. Came with a percussion and the extra flintlock. Not sure if that's the way it was packaged from the factory or if the flintlock was added later. Only shot it setup with the percussion.

Anyway, it looked to be unfired. Excellent rifle and very accurate. No problem shooting an inch at 50 yards with a patched round ball. Have no doubt yours will do the same.

Its doable RR. Unscrew the drum from the barrel replace it with a flash hole liner and then you need to get a lock. The important part is to make sure the pan and the flash hole are in the correct position other wise you will have ignition problems

Could be. Might want to check with Pedersoli. I don't have the gun, anymore, or I would send you the flintlock. Always meant to try it, but liked the percussion so well I never used it.

While I was at the guys house picking up my rifle, he showed me one he brought in for stock. 1874 Sharps Buffalo. 45-70. 34” barrel and comes with vernier sight and front sight that takes the little discs. Heavy rifle for sure. No off hand shooting with that one. Beautiful. $3000 Canadian.

Nope. Not happening.

Santa brought a new buffalo shooting bag and wool shirt for those chilly range days...the bag is a copy of an original in the Glenbow Museum collection in Calgary Alberta. :)
