Time on my Hands

Post by Headhog » Wed Sep 23, 2020 8:06 pm

I've been under doctor's orders to take it easy after my hernia surgery recently. No big deal, the surgery went well, but I get board and look for lite projects to get into. So I had and idea to make a rifle cleaning rest. In my outbuilding, I have a scrap wood pile and put together the setup shown below. The only cost was for the 8" cartridge bole and wing nut, Everything else came from scrap items. I even used an old inner tuber that I cut and glued to gently hold whatever rifle I place in the rest.

The first picture is with the rest holding my Marlin 1894.

I also tried it out with my AR-15 and it work very well for that also. The big test is to see how it works out with my M1.

So now I have a cleaning rest with a total investment of $2.50.
