absorbent pad on bench for gun cleaning?

Post by NoFlyZone » Sun Jan 21, 2018 10:05 pm

I was wondering if anyone uses disposable absorbent pads on the bench or table when cleaning your guns?
I currently use an old bath towel, but after a bit of use (a few gun cleanings) they get and stay smelly.
Tried to wash them in the wash machine but that doesn't make my wife real happy.
I'm thinking about using a disposable pad that I can just throw away after each cleaning session.
I see several on Amazon for all different applications, but thought I would see if anyone has suggestions here.
Thanks,
Dale - AZ

I use an old washrag that has been (repeatedly) sprayed with Ballistol .... when not in use, it stays in a zip lock bag .... Ballistol has a way of overpowering any other odors .. :?

I just put newspaper down and it goes in woodstove after. Pads might be good though.

I have been using a gun cleaning pad for over a year now. It suppose to be washable. But, I think I will dispose of it and buy another one.

I used to use newspapers, but we don't take the paper anymore.
It is a dilemma..

I used a pad I bought add at a local Farm and Fleet store in their hunting aisle. Had Remington logo on it. I seen a few in gun shops and online. About 8 to 10 dollars. I have had it for about 4 months. Does not smell too bad.

I use an old T-shirt. Have a good supply of them.

Yup, those old t-shirts are my rem oil soaked polishing rags. Guns get a good wipe down after every use.

Thanks all, for the good suggestions. I'm going to think about several options.
