Hi everyone,
At the moment I am cleaning my BB using a bore snake, I do soak the bore first using a mop and some eliminator then bore snake. This is beacuse I am a little wary of removing the bolt and having to remove and replace the extractor, does not seem a lot of room for my fingers so I wonder How does everyone else clean their BB's?

Twotone, that's a perfectly good way to do it.

Every so often, though, it is a good idea to remove the bolt and give things a more thorough cleaning. It's easy, and nothing to worry about. The most important thing is making sure to use a good hollow ground gunsmithing screwdriver and to make sure you pick the right size for your takedown screw. The ejector spring and the bolt are both very easy to reassemble.

Also, if you use bore snakes a lot, it's a good idea to wash them. Put them in a mesh lingerie bag, or tie them in an old pillow case, and run them through your washing machine.

I use a standard rod with brass brushes and a jag. I clean the barrel before I clean the breech. Any small amount of "dirt" deposited in the breech by the brush will be cleaned away when cleaning the breech.

Bore snakes do a poor job of cleaning bores in my experience. They are fine for a quick on the go cleaning, but a good cleaning with a brush and solvent is a must from time to time.

Removing the Bolt is easy. Just do not loose the ejector. Watch the cleaning video on the Henry website, it really explains things nicely.

I checked back in our gun cleaning forum, and there was a good thread chat titled "Big Boy Cleaning," which was posted in April 2016. It was started by RanchRoper. http://henryrifleforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=311 There are probably some other threads, too.

The only change that I've made from my comments back then is that I'm using some different cleaning solutions; trying those out per recommendations from the good Forum folk. Trust this is helpful.
