Ed's Red Bore Cleaner

Wonder how good this actually works. I've read about it years ago....just wondering why a manufacture hasn't started producing this product.

I've never tried it but I know some people who swear by it.

I've never used it before cause I use Ballistol on wood and my leather holster's cause that's what it was invented for during WWI for the German Army. I use Seafoam to clean my firearms cause of how well it cleans them and cause of the price....plus, Seafoam doesn't stink like Hoppe's #9 does. I use Mobil 1 oil to lube my firearms cause of me using it in the service during hot and extremely cold weather. Same reason for using Seafoam while I was in the service. The Ed's Red has my attention cause of the price per fluid ounce but I don't know about the smell factor. I'm mainly looking into this cause of the price. Same reason why I just got into bullet/boolit casting....save cost....cause we all know components aren't cheap like they used to be. I shoot allot....so I clean my firearms allot....same for reloading. Over all...just fun fun fun and to keep having fun fun fun....I have to cut cost somewhere.

Hoppe's #9 - $1.50 per fluid ounce
Seafoam - .50 cents per fluid ounce
Ed's Red - .14 cents per fluid ounce
Mobil 1 Oil - .23 cents per fluid ounce
Rem Oil - $2.50 per fluid ounce

I'm pretty much sold on Ballistol and would be hard pressed to switch .... that said, I'm most certainly open to hearing use reports from folks who have used it

I made a batch once. It worked well, but I think it says keep it away from wood. I stopped there.
