Thanks for posting the review. I have been trying different lubricants to see if I could find something better than breakfree clp being I have been having a little surface rust on some of my guns that I know were well lubed. Ballistol was a good cleaner that seems to loosen copper if you let it soak a while. I am trying one shot and really like it so far but time will tell about its protectant ability.

I use Break Free or Hoppes 9 for general cleaning, Rem All In for bore cleaning. I wipe it off and lube with Lucas Extreme Duty Gun Oil or Mil-Com TW25B grease both of which are recommended by Ernest Langdon, I figure he knows more about gun care than some random dude on youtube.

I have heard good things about Ballistol and have some but would have to clean my guns outside if I used it, lots of folks say it smells good but I can't stand it's smell.

I like that guy alot and he has a bunch of good videos. I’ve always used Eezox when it comes to the rust prevention. Does a great job in my Black Powder rifles

Thanks for the video! Nice to see how lubricates stay up to extreme usage. I use Rem Oil. It seems to do my lever actions and other firearms just fine. If I had semi or fully automatic firearms, that may be a different story. Or if I used firearms in extreme conditions, I may would be of greater concern. But for the common hunting and home defense scenarios, Rem Oil seems to do just fine. Pull the trigger, no jams, just bang!

it isn't a favorite of my wife but I pretty much just use Ballistol as both a cleaner and lube ....

The first time I used Ballistol I did not like the smell either but I sure liked the way it worked. That is the only cleaner I use now. Even use it on wood stocks, leather slings, and leather holsters. I clean my firearms in a heated shop in the garage. My wife rarely enters that space, except to get something from the freezer located in the shop.

I know, late to the party again, but, I've been using Ballistol recently and like it a lot. Truly good stuff.

I also love Ballistol however last trip to walmart sporting goods section they now carry Sta-Bil Sport Gun CLP. Looks same color and consistency of Ed's Red. Bought a bottle to try and while I keep my guns clean it seemed to do a respectable job, not offensive in aroma.

Agree on the Ballistol. It works great. I have used it on a lot of things. It's my go to for my guns though!
