Tcs- The Custom Shop Bore Cleaning Jag

Post by JEBar » Tue Jul 27, 2021 11:57 am

unless something forces me to do so, I don't use brass brush in the barrel of our firearms .... I do still use Ballistol coated cleaning patches .... for a while I've been reading about Custom Shop Bore Cleaning Jags ===> https://www.amazon.com/Tcs-Custom-Shop- ... op?ie=UTF8 and haven't been able to find them at any local vendor .... on Amazon they have a 4.9 out of 5 star rating with the only negative comment being that they are expensive .... I've ordered one that should arrive next week .... my interest stems from the fact that I've found regular rifle and handgun jags work pretty well but I can't say the same for those designed for use with 12 ga shotguns .... I've used cotton bore mops ===> https://www.amazon.com/Hoppes-No-Cleani ... ods&sr=1-9 and my only complaint is they don't last very long .... I'm looking forward to giving one a try .... for me, TCS is a company I haven't dealt with .... their website ===> http://store.tcsgunshop.com/TCS_Cleanin ... s/1823.htm offers some interesting items

Seems like it would make for a good fit.

sadly a sore knee prevented me from firing as many rounds as I would have liked ..... I fired 150 before using the new Tcs- Bore Cleaning Jag for the first time .... must say, I was impressed .... the O-rings keep the cleaning patch pressed firmly against the inner wall of the barrel .... I first ran a dry patch, then a couple of Ballistol patches and finally a couple more dry patches in a regular jag .... after installing the Tcs Jag, I sprayed Ballistol on a patch and ran it down the barrel .... I was surprised -- make that way beyond surprised the amount of back on the patch .... it took a few more mixed dry and wet patches to get the barrel where I'm happy with it .... I don't believe that I'll buy this type of jag for regular rifle cleaning but if I ever start firing a 20 ga I'll most certainly order one ....

additional note : after already ordering ours from Amazon, I've found that these jags are much cheaper at Brownells https://www.brownells.com/gun-cleaning- ... 52343.aspx
