Rem oil on all weapons. I have never had a lube problem. Ever.
My late Dad, the Marine taught us to clean after every outing. I guess I could use bacon grease as often as I clean my weapons.
In the Military we/they used CLP. I still use it to clean, but I put Rem oil on all parts that mesh/slide together.

I use 3&1 oil for my wife's sewing machine, and door hinges 👍😉
Back in my Army days ( 60s ), we used an oil in a olive drab green squeeze bottle. Have no idea what it was. It worked, no choice, LOL
My motto is, if it works, it works, whatever it is.
I rarely ever buy a rifle, but when I do, it's a Henry.

+1 for Ballistol. I live in south Florida and I have never had any problems with any of my guns. No rust, no pitting, never gums, never fails. Ballistol for cleaning, lubricant and protection. I use it like I used to use Break Free CLP 30 years ago.

Used many brands. Nary a problem with any. Well, except WD-40.

except WD-40.
Technically WD 40 is a solvent and not a lubricant.

I recall reading about it many years ago and the lube like 'appearance' to it is created by the chemicals in it and do not last long or offer any 'lubricative' qualities.

I use a Hoppes oil lubed patch down the barrel after cleaning and Rem oil for all other parts. Then the whole gun gets wiped with a Rem oil rag. Wood and all.

Tried the wax thing, but I am just not that fussy about my guns. A good oil wipe protects and keeps 'em fine for me. To each his own.

Amazon. Can get it in 65ml, 200ml and 3 litter sizes. A tiny bit goes a long way.
However the first time I bought it, from a craft store. JoAnns I think.

Thanks Mags. We have a JoAnns here in town. I'm sure they're closed at the moment though.

I believe JoAnns here is open. They are reportedly selling fabric to those helping to sew masks. We've gone off topic, so lets get back to 3:1.

The WD in WD40 stands for Water Displacement.
Developed by Huqhs Aircraft to keep mothballed aircraft from rusting away from humidity and condesation. It is also non-conductive so it can be sprayed into electrical connections to dry them off.
Soaks right into wood and can soften it over time.

I don't want my guns smelling like a sewing machine. I've got a bottle of it, and it stinks.
1 drop will definitely go a long way.
