Long Ranger Question
can the lever and bolt of a Long Ranger be removed in the same manner as the lever and bolt in BBS series ..
.. the Long Ranger is said to be designed in a manner similar to the Browning BLR where that is not the case

Re: Long Ranger Question
It is not made to easily remove the bolt.
The looks I've gotten at the Long Ranger it looks very similar to my Sako Finnwolf. Lots of intermeshing and timed parts and pieces.

Re: Long Ranger Question
that is the same reason I've been given by independent gunsmiths as why they don't like to disassemble a BLR .... they said that should only be done by someone certified by Browning .... unless proven otherwise, I tend to believe the same will be true for a Long RangerOjaileveraction wrote:Lots of intermeshing and timed parts and pieces.
Re: Long Ranger Question
The Henry Long Ranger Owner's Manual expressly discourages you from trying to disassemble the whole bolt/lever assembly. In fact, they only recommend basic bore-snaking for cleaning the barrel and just talk about swabbing out the chamber and parts you can see/get to. If you look at the blow-up of the parts diagram, you'll understand why. Happy to take a picture of mine and post it if you'd like...Just let me know.

Re: Long Ranger Question
seeing a parts diagram would be most interesting but your confirmation is all I need .... thanks, info appreciated
Re: Long Ranger Question
I'll try to get a decent picture and post it here soon, just so you can appreciate the complexity, but your familiarity with the BLR is probably all you need!

The "exploded view" just before gravity takes everything down and it scatters across the floor.JEBar wrote:interesting .... those schematics have a way of making it look much simpler than it actually is

Re: Long Ranger Question
offer appreciated but that isn't necessary .... if/when ours ever needs a part, I'll get it to a Browning repair facility .... no way I'll tackle it myself
