Non Pistol Mares Leg?

Post by Rep1954 » Sun May 19, 2019 6:00 pm

Took the butt stock off my “Peg Leg” and put it on my H001 16” barreled Carbine. Measured 26.25” still rifle length by law and only 1 1/4” longer than my OEM H001ML. One could pick up an extra butt stock cut it down and have a convertible. You just wouldn’t want to tighten the stock screw to tight doing change overs as not to cause excessive thread wear. This is the stock I used I didn’t take a picture of the stock on the gun but just imagine 6 1/8” more inch’s on the barrel.

I think I may have shot something like a Mare's Leg and did appreciate the benefits of holding the gun out in that fashion. It felt natural to me.

I think Sir Henry had mentioned being quite fond of the Mare's Leg.

The ML is one gun I've never shot. Yeah, I know, hard to believe but, hey, now I have an excuse to try one. :)

Please go for it NCG if you have the opportunity . I never knew that kind or gun ever existed. I find it very interesting...a lever action pistol??

I would not think so... :(
At least, not what I would choose. Still interesting to me how it was used, and why? :?:
