Hello,

New to these forums and new owner of an all weather Henry .357. Looking to use it deer hunting this year. I tried a red dot but would like to have some magnification so I was going to add a Vortex Crossfire II but need help finding a good rail or rings. I want to keep the scope as low as possible. Any suggestions?

Welcome from the TV, Oregon!

I use the Vortex Vortex Optics Pro rings (low 0.75") on my Long Ranger. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MM ... UTF8&psc=1
To go as low as possible you'll need to do some math. Roughly the sum of the mount thickness + the ring height must be greater than 1/2 the outer diameter of the scope objective and the eye piece. You might need to remove the buckhorm sight on the AW as well.
I use this mount on my .30-30 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01D2 ... UTF8&psc=1
Although you might need to elongate the '4th' hole a tiny bit for use on your AW.357. See details here:

You could look at the Talley Integral base/ring set-up on the Henry Store. $49. Have one on my Henry BB brass .357 with a Weaver Classic V 1-3x20mm scope[1" tube]. It's pretty low, looks good and works. It's an option.

Exactly the same mount and scope on my BBS 357. did not have to remove the rear buck horn either. you're right Tom; I think it sits low enough as well.
In fact, low enough that I had to add a hammer extender. I like this set up!

Mark, it is a solid set-up to be sure. Still pondering that idea for my .45 Colt rifle.

I would not hesitate, if it's doable Tom.
One of the reasons I went with that Tally mount was, less moving parts for stability, and no lapping of rings to worry about.
In fact, lapping voids the warranty, as I found out when I called Tally about torque specs.

Those Tally's are the bomb. I'm looking for another Weaver Classic V 1-3x20mm made in Japan for a decent price. I've heard the newer ones aren't so hot. Not sure where those are made. I wouldn't scope that rifle if I had better peepers, but, alas.

A small update: Bought the Talley base/ring mount and found a Tasco World Class 1.5-4.5x32mm scope. This works perfectly on my Henry .45 Colt. I can see my targets again!

Good! Now do you have a target with some holes in them? I'm slow lately at staying of top of most recent posts, so if you already posted them somewhere point me there.
