Looking for scope mounts for my Henry but having no luck. I've got a Big Boy Steel 357 and keep finding Big Boy cantilever mounts for the brass reciever guns. Mine has a flat top reciever that is drilled and tapped. Anyone know a source to find this???

Just call the factory and ask them. I'm sure they had a solution before the first B.B. Steel was shipped.

I might call them, but on their website the same mount is shown to fit both the brass and the steel reciever guns. I'm not sure that's right due to the fact the Steel is flat on top and the brass Big Boy is contoured.
MidwayUSA doesn't list anything for this rifle and neither does Weaver's own website.

Anybody with a Big Boy Steel mounted a scope? Where'd you get your mount?

Andy Skinner is one of our fine members. Here is a link to his Henry page.
http://www.skinnersights.com/henry_rifles_18.html

He also does custom work so let him know if you don't find what you are looking for.

They do have a mount for the Steel BB (model # BB-RSMP). Call CS and ask about it. It may not be listed on their site, yet.

I agree with Travlin and suggest you call Henry direct. I just looked at the rifle accessories on their web site, and don't see the scope mount listed you would need for a steel .357 Henry.

I inquired last year about a scope mount for my 2nd-generation H006M, because the generation change-over info was somewhat confusing on their web site. They've updated some of the options list now, and it's easier to order. For a few years now I've chatted with the Supervisor CS, Tom Kotz, whenever I've had questions or issues. He explained some stuff to me about the scope mounts, and then this is what he did to help out:

From: Tom Kotz
Sent: ‎Monday‎, ‎August‎ ‎10‎, ‎2015 ‎7‎:‎57‎ ‎AM

Weaver 63B bases cannot be used on your rifle as they’ll only fit the H009 and H010 series rifles. If you’ll provide your phone # and address, I’ll send you a base that you can use to mount a scope on your rifle.

Best,
Tom

Then the surprise -- he sent me the scope mount at no charge, which was totally unexpected! I simply wanted to order one for my Big Boy. So that was a great CS experience for me! Again I'd suggest that you call them and you'll be sure to end up with the correct part.

P.S. I just saw CT_Shooter's note. That part number he listed is still not on the scope list yet. Wonder why not, as there are a lot of steel Henry .357s out there now....

It was PT7, a friend of mine, who told me about his experience with Henry CS and informed me of that part number. I didn't mean to steal his thunder, but I did want to help you out.

Thanks, PT7!!! Once again.

Owly, let us know how you make out with it.

No thunder issues here, CT_Shooter. Good job. We just want to get Owly scoped correctly!

Not sure if you got it resolved but Henry has a mount for the Big Boy Steel rifles. It's in their catalog also. Just go to their site. Or, as others suggested, call them. It works great!!

Henry carries a wide selection of parts that aren't listed anywhere online so if you need something call them.

I might be a little late with this. When I picked up my Henry Steel, I knew I was gonna mount a scope on it. My Lgs sold me a Weaver 63B and said it would work. It fit perfectly. $10.95 and no wait for a mount.

Looking at that rail, it seems like you could screw it down with 2 mounting screws, leaving the most rearward hole open. That makes the Lo-Pro from Skinner for that back hole. This, along with some QD rings might resolve my long sought Scope/Peep sight dilemna....hmmm. Will be looking into this for future use. Thanks 45Steel, good tip.

Big Boy Picatinny mount

I've run into a little issue with the picatinny rail scope mount that Henry sells. The rail itself is fine, nicely made and finished. The problem is the mounting screws. I've stripped the threads off two of them trying to mount the rail. I'm using a Wheeler Fat Wrench torque wrench set at 20 inch lbs of torque which is pretty typical for scope bases. The mounting screws are Weaver type screws #8-40 X 1/4 inch and are just too short to have enough threads and may also be too soft tempered. The holes in the top of the receiver didn't strip, but all the engaged threads came right off the screws. Henry has been great about customer service over this, overnighting new screws (unfortunately the wrong screw) and then sending out the replacements for the incorrect screw. I haven't received the replacements yet, but am worried enough that the problem will still exist that I ordered some #8-40 X 3/8 weaver type screws from Brownells. I also ordered a #8-40 bottoming tap and chased the threads in the receiver holes (that metal from the screws went somewhere). So just a heads up if you order the Picatinny rail (don't know if this problem exists with their regular scope mount which is apparently a separate item).

I put the BB-RSMP Rail from Henry on my BBS .375 with no problems. I removed the existing screws and used the ones that came with the rail. When I tightened them down I just started them until all 3 were started and rotating freely, Then I snugged them up a little at a time till they were all tight then carefully gave each one an extra 1/4 turn. I've had no problems.

Big Boy picatinny mount followup

I got the replacement screws (second set) from Henry...a little longer than the ones shipped with the rail, and they worked perfectly....rail installed. I want to be able to mount an XS backup ghost ring on the rail when I don't have a scope on there (Warne QD scope mounts) The rail makes the current sights unusable, so I've ordered a very tall front sight from skinner sights (.750 high) to compensate for the height of the XS sight plus the rail. I'm looking forward to seeing if this works out....I've also ordered one for my Rossi 92 with a NOE picatinny rail which has the same issue...rail too high to see the front sight.
