30mm Big Boy mount?

Post by Redthies » Fri Jan 19, 2024 11:59 am

Anyone have a 30mm scope mount for the BB? I can’t find one anywhere and would love to buy one if you have an extra?

How about a 2 pc? Though forward ring would only mount with one screw.

I use this mount on my Big Boys and it will take any Weaver/Picatinny style ring.

I’ve looked at the picatinny route, but I’d like the Talley one piece if I can. I have it in1”, but I’m looking at a scope that only comes as a 30mm tube.

So I ended up getting a rail and some QD rings the same as I use on my Marlin 336BL. I also ordered my first Vortex scope to try. A 1-6x Strike Eagle. Not the best hunting reticle, but the illuminated part will be welcome.

I have that scope on my 30-30. It's been a great scope out to about 75yds. My only regret is that I wished that I had gotten the 1-8x.

I hear you. I’ve got a 1-4x Nikon on it right now, so I’m going up a bit as is. The 1-8x is triple the money I’m getting the 1-6x for. Optics Planet has them on for $199 right now! Reg is $499.

That is a really good price! I think I paid $299 for mine in 2018 on sale, also bought at PlanetOptics.

Well, I’ve now had eyes and hands on the SE 1-6x. Man, 30mm is BIG! The reticle is going to take a bit of getting used to, but probably not too much. The only thing I find a little odd is the 11 different settings for illumination. Six would be plenty. Maybe I’ll feel different when I’m waiting in falling darkness for that big whitetail to show itself, but it sure seems excessive now.

I’ve also ordered a 1” single piece mount for the 3/8” “rail” on my SGC. The factory Skinner is great, but I’ve got that Nikon 1-4x with nowhere to go, and I’d really like to be able to hunt with the tiny .22 more effectively. It was my first Henry, and I don’t use it much. Hopefully I can get it dialled in tight with the scope, and take it out for turkeys and grouse.
