New Scopes/Peep

Post by Shakey Jake » Thu Apr 28, 2022 4:26 pm

I made some changes today three of my rifles. I took off a 3-9 X 40 Burris off the Ruger .223 and replaced it with a Vortex 4-16 X42. I want to start shooting it at 200 yards. I also took off the buckhorn sight on the Remington 141 and replaced it with a Skinner barrel peep. I can already tell without shooting it that it is a great improvement. Finally, I took the Leupold 3-9 VarXII off the Remington 700 .270 and replaced it with a Vortex 6-24 X 50. I plan on shooting the .223and 141 tomorrow. I'll go out another day with the Remington. I'll report on the progress in a range report later tomorrow or Saturday. I'm going to try to get the .270 sighted in a later date at 100 and then 200.

Any updates? Did you change to Vortex for any particular reason? They’ve never gotten too excited, but I know lots of people love them. I just mounted a Sig 2-7x on my 336 BL. Got to go sight it in soon.

Yes. I shot very well with both changes. I didn't post the pictures here though. I guess I should have. I'll see if I can find them on my facebook page and copy them over. I'm just shooting at longer ranges and need all the help I can get with my tired eyes.
