Nikon PROSTAFF® Rimfire II Riflescope

a good friend of mine recently passed away and, having no children of his own, he left a Marlin Lever Action 22 to our grandson .... in looking for a scope I came across the 3-9X40 Nikon PROSTAFF® Rimfire II Riflescope in this link http://www.cabelas.com/product/NIKON-RI ... Davailable at Cabela's for $89.99 .... as a fan of Nikon scopes it caught my attention .... comments "?

I have a Nikon P-Rimfire 2-7x32 and its excellent. It came with two turrets, one for .22LR and one for .22WMR. And I have the Prostaff Rimfire 3-9x40. I prefer the adjustable turrets over the BDC. But both have excellent brightness and contrast.

I have a Prostaff 4X32 rimfire and highly recommend Nikon scopes. The 3-9X would definitely let you reach out to 100 yards. At that price I am tempted to order one. But I already have more scopes than rifles.

I have Nikon Prostaff's on just about every rifle I own. They are a great scope for the money. I highly recommend them.

I am sorry for the loss of your friend. A very nice rifle for your grandson with a great scope to go with it. I am sure that he will have fun at the range.

That scope should work just fine.

As a side note? Depending on your grandson's experience, or lack thereof, with shooting, I think I would have had him learn to shoot the 39A with the iron sights before adding a scope. Just my 2¢.

agree .... I've been working with him for over a year .... the first few months he fired open sights only .... after that, a mix of open sights and a Nikon .... as time goes by he will keep switching between them .... he has come a long way

People that learn to shoot iron sights easily adjust to a scope but people that learn on a scoped rifle have problems with iron sights.

I put Leupold 2-7 rimfire scopes on my H001m and my small game carbine. They are very light and not as large as a lot of scopes.

I have the same Leupold and it works great.

I have a Nikon Prostaff 3-9 x 40 Rimfire Scope on my CZ 452 American.

The mounts are a set of inexpensive Leupold that were the only thing I could find at the time that would get the scope low on the barrel.

Leupold part number 56533.

I don't know why some guys think you have to have super rugged scope mounts on a .22.
