It is always better to add a hammer extension than to change the rings, you should keep the scope as low as possible to the bore, just enough to clear any obstructions. Tho for shooting at a fixed distance this is not a big deal. For hunting, it is more important.

This reviewer ran into problems because his scope was too big, he put a smaller one on and it was fine. … https://www.grandviewoutdoors.com/guns ... shot-rifle

to me the most important consideration is to mount the scope where its best for you when the rifle is shouldered and your cheek is on the stock .... for me, the low rings have usually proven to be best ... with that being the case we use hammer extensions

What ranges will you be shooting? One issue with extra high rings and shooting at close ranges, under 100 yards and definitely at 50 yards or less is running out of elevation adjustment (up) on some scopes. And, yes, with a scope mounted that high, the POI is going to vary quite a bit over even short distances, making hold over/under tricky.

Like John stated I would use a hammer extension, use on all my lever actions that have a scope and keep rings low

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

I have never actually seen a H015 but the hammer seems to sit quite high. What is the lowest rings you can put on and still have the hammer clear the scope with an extension.

Hope your rifle is not affected by the recall.

I have changed 2 scopes and rings twice.. the accuracy is good till 30 yards ..the moment I go 50 and beyond..the rifle is shooting much much higher..fed up if wasting time and resources on this gun..bought it in full excitement to be used for deer hunt this season in forests under 100 yards. But absolutely not reliable..sorry folks but that is a fact..

You dont give to much info to go on so Im assuming you are zeroing the scope at 25 to 30 yards and expecting it to be on at 50 or 100. Thats not going to happen as the bullet is just starting its arc at 25 yards and will naturally print higher at 50 and beyond. Again Im assuming this given the info you have provided.
