The original Bushnell optics were, indeed, superb. The equipment that they first introduced in 1948 was as good as anything else that was readily available at the time. Beyond a certain level, the only increase is in price and not quality, and some of the higher end Bushnell products still qualify as being superb, imho.

It's difficult to know who owns who these days, isn't it. As you say, some former great names are now great in name only, and some we've never heard of are now ruling the world.

Some folks call it 'progress', but I just call it 'confusing!' ;)

That is so true, Les. Everything is "badged" to a famous name. General Motors can make a Ford car badged as Lincoln in the Toyota plant, whatever :D

The names of appliances have become meaningless; Hotpoint, General Electric, Craftsman, it's all foreign junk badged with a famous name.

There are probably only half a handful of plants making all this stuff; just stop the line long enough to change the name..........

Well guess what Les, I went and bought a Bushnell (again) I added everything up and the best scope, what appears to be one of their best even tho it's made in China (which I HATE) is the "Bushnell Trophy Xtreme X30 6-24x50 Scope with DOA LR800 Reticle" I love high magnification

I did something I haven't done in the past, I checked the "actual" warranty. So many companies have lifetime warranty and it looks good in writing but I never checked the "fine print", 98% of the "so-called" lifetime warranties requires you to have the original proof of purchase and send in $ to cover S&H. So many people find this out too late and they cannot find it after a few years of owning their scope. Even my beloved Nikon that I have held so dear requires it but Bushnell does not require it if you have bought a:
(Elite Tactical, Elite Long Range Hunter, Elite 6500, Elite 4500, Elite 3500, Legend Ultra HD, Trophy and Trophy Xtreme) even if you purchased one of the above at a flea market or found it under a load of garbage and then you dropped it off your roof, Bushnell will repair or replace it for free. If you purchased any of their other scopes you will need a proof of purchase and send 10$ when you send in your scope for warranty.

Your gonna love that amount of magnification. Don't know if you know it or not but that scope has a ton of windage and elevation (50) built into it if and when you'll need it. Let us know how you like it when you get it and field test your setup. I'm gonna go over to MidwayUSA and add that scope to my wish list since it still is on sale and has free shipping. $274.99 & SHIPS FREE - List Price: $389.95 - Save $114.96 (29%)

This is one of my Nikon’s here I have had it for almost 5 yrs and It has performed excellently, this is the scope that stuck me to Nikon but if this Bushnell pans out I will gladly swap my scope manufacturer being it costs almost 1/2 Nikon's price and a better warranty.

Was gonna order it on Monday (12-12) but when I got home from work....it was out of stock. Check the statues today when I got home and it was back in stock at MidwayUSA for $274.99....so I ordered it. Since I ordered it, I ordered a new Ranger Point Rhino scope mount rail from Ranger Point Precision. The Henry rail is too high and it's a weaver style. The Ranger Point Rhino scope mount rail is a picatinny and is secured/screwed down with Torx drive screws. With the Ranger Point Rhino Scope Mount Rail, I can use weaver or picatinny scope rings.

Nikon is a company that I consider the price tag being a 50/50 price margin. Meaning 50% of the cost pays for the scope and the other 50%....is for the mark up for the name/company....Nightforce is another that comes to mind. Don't get me wrong....they make fine products thou.

Nikon has a great "No fault" warranty, you can throw the scope off a cliff and send it to them and they will repair/replace it. I buy scopes mainly depending on their warranty and also their performance. I won't buy a scope if they have a poor warranty and a great product but I will buy if they have a great warranty and great product. So far Nikon has been great, never had to use their warranty, I own 2 Nikon's.

Rugerfanboy I wish I could have gotten to you earlier because I cancelled that scope from Amazon because "The Roost Sports" was taking too long to ship it. I went to Optics Planet and used the promotion code "DEC10" and got the scope for $233.54 to my door so it worked out great. I never heard of "The Roost Sports" but everyone has heard of "Optics Planet" that deals with firearms.

Rugerfanboy, that Ranger Point Rhino scope mount rail looks great, nice job!

I used the Big Boy mount on my Golden boy;
DSC_0018.JPG
I like this mount much better than the Cantilever Scope Mount, the CSM seem like it would have a negative harmonics "diving board" effect. Those that have used it I have heard anything negative and the BB mount seems a lot better secured to the receiver and not to the barrel.

Same here, performance, quality and warranty are my controlling factors when purchasing an item. I use my stuff, I just don't abuse it and sometimes, I wear it out and the no questions asked warranty really pays off in the long run. I'm not a Bushnell fan boy....but I've used there scopes for years and I never broke one before....but I have worn a few out before. Same goes for Vortex...fine company and a great warranty. Leupold is a great company....but your gonna pay dearly for there products.

Hey....don't sweat it. I put next day air shipping on my order from MidwayUSA. Got some time off from work coming at the end of the month and wanted to make sure I get everything before the Christmas Holiday. I've never heard of The Roost Sports before. But Optic Planet is very big in the shooting community. Allot of youtuber push them on there youtube channels. I don't use them cause I've used MidwayUSA for years and have never had a problem using there service. I also like to order from Brownells and Midsouth Shooters Supply.

I finally got the Bushnell Rimfire Optics 6-18x40 Riflescope that I couldn't find anything wrong with as soon as I opened the box. This is the third one, I ordered this one from Wal-mart and just about every time I order something firearm wise from them it's good to go. It's only passed 50% of the way, I have to get to the range and site it in. I going to wait until Tues because the Bushnell Trophy Xtreme, 6-24x50 will be here, I'm starting it out on my Henry 22 magnum.

Rugerfb, you did receive yours already yes? I know you ordered it next day air, did you mount it? I mounted the Bushnell Rimfire on my Ruger 10-22, got to put the wheeler mounting kit to work. It sux that I paid $100 for it and rarely use it but it's damn sure worth it to have when I have a scope to mount.

The scope arrived on Wednesday and the rails came in on Saturday. I have two Henry Big Boy Steel rifles. One chambered in 44 Mag and the other chambered in 357 Mag. This will be my setup for both rifles once I'm done with them.

It will be interesting to know how the XStream scopes reacts to the 44 magnums recoil, how is the weather in your area?

In the teens right now...plus we had a ice storm last night. I won't be able to do anything until Christmas is over with. Plus, I'm gonna start all over since I've add this scope. I reload, so I wanna see what I can push/get out of this setup. I'm already holding a 5-shot 1 inch group at 100 yrds with another scope setup that I have. My old setup had some issue that was effecting accuracy. I've addressed some, but they returned. So, I decided to scrap the old setup. One of the issues was the Henry factory rail. Even using loctiting on the screws didn't fix the issue of it moving around on the receiver. I've finally decided the Henry factory weaver rail is not made for precision work. It will do it, it just doesn't hold zero at all. The new rail is like night and day. As soon as I mounted it, I could see the difference. I'm ordering some new rings to get the scope closer to the bores center line. As soon as I get off here, I'm heading over to Brownells cause MidwayUSA is out of stock on the rings that I want. I'll keep you updated as I go along. I won't be able to do anything this coming week until my new rings come in. Yup, you guess it, I gonna put over night shipping on them if Brownells allows it for being so close to the Holidays. May not get the over night option, but I'm gonna give it a shot. Caught ya on the flip side of the coin.

Rfb, did you inspect the XStream scope? for instance if the crosshair wasn't canted, the windage/elevation turret dot was in the center of the scope and not off to the left or right. These are the two main issues I have had with the other two scopes I had to send back. The scopes I had were the cheaper rimfire scopes, the more expensive scopes may be different, not sure if they are made in the same factory but check yours if you would and report back, I'm curious. I will get mine here in a couple hours and I'll let you know. I still have to go and get a set of 30mm rings.

I just received mine and I am very amazed of the quality of this scope, everything is perfect, the scope cover is first class as well. Now if it preforms on the range Bushnell will be my goto scope company. Right now it's Nikon but I wanted to give Bushnell a chance, I can say the difference between the cheaper Bushnell and the higher priced ones are definitely night and day.

I've only visually inspected the scope and didn't find anything wrong. I will completely inspect the scope once I mount it and get the chance to shoot with it on my rifle. Thanks for the heads up by the way. My rings will be here later on today from UPS. Wasn't able to get over night shipping on Brownells shipping options. But, I did get two day shipping. Over all, an awesome experience in my opinion.

I'm in the process of mounting scopes on three rifles that I own and since deciding to do this, I've saved a bundle of money because of the holiday season sales. Between holiday sales, promotion codes, discounts and lower shipping rates, I've saved over $400. Glad I decided to do this around this time of the year.
