How to make the Ghost Ring sight.....
Use a basic hacksaw blade because the mounting holes are about .150 diameter and the material is hard so locking screw won't dent.
I lay the Henry sight insert on top of blade material and center it up with blade hole. Use a White colored hacksaw blade so your scribe marks will show up clearly. Holding blade I carefully grind to each side line mark paying attention to keep it square and sides parallel to each other.
Make sure to keep the hole centered to the sides! Grind for a slide in fit into the Henry Sight holder...not to loose. Should measure .245-.250 in width.
Then cut to length using Dremel type cutting disc to 3/16ths of an inch below bottom of hole in blade. Do not grind the top edge of blade as it already has a nice finished radiused edge. Total new insert length should be 9/16ths of an inch.
You can remove the blade paint with Acetone for a nice blued look!

Forty, this is an ingenious improvement to the standard semi-buckhorn sights that come with most Henrys. Thanks for sharing it with us. I'm sure there will be many who will give it a try.

Hacksaw blade has been has made me a few replacement sight blades over the years as well!

Good job, forty. Glad to see another T&D maker at work. May give it a go when I get caught up on my pressing projects, ( chainsaw on BIG limb on the ground, replacing wood on outside of my shed/shop, I didn't get finished last year before bad weather set in ).
Too many irons in my little fire, LOL.

I rarely ever buy a rifle, but when I do, it's a Henry.

Re: How to make the Ghost Ring sight.....
That should work well on my Marlin Cowboy also.
The rear sights are very similar.

Lately you have been quiet. No out back of the barn videos or gong videos at all. Forty is out producing ya.

Always trying to keep up with Randy. I think we might need to send him a hat and a white apron.

Re: How to make the Ghost Ring sight.....
Well, I've got to take a little more off the sides, still just a hair wide.
Back to the grinder, updates later.
Gonna make a pair, one for the BBB, and one for the Cowboy.

Re: How to make the Ghost Ring sight.....
Hey Forty,
Thanks for that great tip on diy peepsight !! Much better for my old eyes than the standard notch and I saved some cash. I did it on my 357 and now I need to make one for my Golden Boy magnum. I'm going to try hitting it with a torch and see it I can blue it a little. If that doesn't work I'll paint it.
- - The brass dot is not that big in the real sight picture, it just looks bigger because the camera is zoomed way in.

Nice work Tom! Glad it works out for you!
Re: How to make the Ghost Ring sight.....
Thanks Fortyshooter I made one of these inserts tonight and I think it will be a nice addition to my new H009G. I used Oxy-Blue on it to darken it.
