Target sights on a H001TLB

Post by Matureshooter » Wed Sep 20, 2017 6:01 pm

Easy question this time. I'm mounting a Marbles tang sight on my Henry, now I need a front sight that will work well with it, to me the obvious choice is a Lyman globe 17. I need to know the correct size of the Dovetail. I would also appreciate any feedback from anyone with some experience in this or a similar setup. Getting really excited about this rifle.

The front sight dovetail is 3/8" on a Henry H001. You have your choice of a .404", .494", or .584" tall Globe (base to center of globe) with the Lyman 17a series. You may want to shoot it with the rear tang sight/factory installed front and then calculate which globe to go with to get it to sight in at your desired range....

Thanks, I'll give it a few rounds before I change the front sight. I didn't think of that, it has been years since I've set up a rifle to do any shooting.

I have a Marbles tang and Lyman globe on several of my Henrys and the combination works great. Can't remember the correct height but I do know it took a higher sight than the stock one.
