Saw this on another site and decided to give it a try. Nice idea, wish I could take credit.

I only have it mounted with tape right now until I decide if it's a keeper. The installation involves drilling a throughhole in the sight and tapping a thread in the top of the receiver.

So far so good, but I'd like to try it with a smaller aperature.

If it works for you, and you can find a smaller aperture, then it's job done, but after seeing the quality of the Skinner sights, I would second what Tad has said.

Perhaps you could experiment with rolled up paper/card to make the aperture smaller? It might give you a better idea about your ideal aperture size.

The peep sight hole size is not bad and the location is perfect .The nearer to your eye the better . In matches and hunting sometimes I shoot it without aperture screw in like in the 1 pic . Here is the sight I made .

Andy makes a great product. There are at least a couple of guys shooting the winter rifle league that have the Skinner peep's mounted on their 10-22's. They're doing really good, so I expect to see a few more when the league starts next fall. You know how that goes.

I'm not a competitive shooter, in fact I'm a pretty lousy plinker, but nobody has more fun than I do shooting. This "project" is not about saving time nor money or improving on a 19th century design. It's all about what I call "goofin' around". If it works, great, if not, oh well. Just part of what the hobby is to me. And anyway, there is absolutly nothing wrong with the buckhorn that HenryCo installed on my pump. It's a pretty darn good sight.
