Henry Lever X 45-70 Sights
Guys, bought a new Henry Lever X 45-70 and love it however it was shooting 6-8" high at 50 yards, windage right on, with three different types of ammo in the 300gr. range. I bottomed out the rear sight so no place to go there. Contacted Henry and they sent me an even slightly higher front sight but it still shoot 3-4 " high at 50 yards. Anyone have any suggestions?

can you move the diamond insert any lower? there is a screw to adjust elevation. loosen screw and move sight down

The X uses fiber optic sights, they do not have that feature.

Strange, I'd have thought that they would have checked that at the factory

Welcome to the forum. Id call Henry again and see what they say. Maybe they have another height of a front sight to send you. Outside of that you may need to change them out altogether

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

I'm a shooter, but not a hunter. I have some questions that might help. What sight picture do you use? I like a "6 o'clock" hold. Why sight in at 50 yds? I might start around 140 yds. You might want to check out your trajectory for the 45/70 using the internet web site named " jbmballistics.com " I would start with Simple Trajectory . . .
