Would like to hear pros and cons of leupold alumina flip up scope caps....?

Here are my concerns
1. Cost to benefit ratio
2. Durability
3. Cheap alternatives that look cheap (No good)

Please share your experiences and opinions...

No personal experience but I would guess that if thin enough they could dent or get out of shape or perhaps a cap edge could get bent and then the cap may not seat properly. Just my opinion based on the material used.

The only scope I have that came with the flip up covers has AO (not on the side) :(

I am guessing you are talking about the lens caps and not adjustment caps.

I have them on two of my rifles. One wears a VX-3 2.5 x 10 and the other has a Redfield 3 x 9. They are expensive so I have not added them to any of my cheaper scopes. I just use the cheap Butler Creek ones on those. Seems silly to spend as much as the caps as on the scope. The Leupold ones are very classy. The caps are fairly thick and are solid aluminum so they should pretty much last forever. The magnet "latches" hold well and open with a light touch. Once you use them, you will want more and wish they didn't cost so much. I see that this is an old thread. Oh well, someone might wander in and want an answer.

Do they add any outside diameter to the scope size?
