New Burris 2X8

I mounted a new Burris on my .360 carbine and it worked out quite well. I'm a little frustrated by the scope companies giving up on the lower power scopes. Also not happy about the batteries and reticles with enough lines to resemble a Chicago street map. So I got this Burris mounted today and gave it a little road test at 50 yards. As you can see it just barely shoehorned into position without have to remove the rear sight. Ranger Point base and Warne medium rings. The last three shots in one hole with 200 gr. Lee cast bullets while set at 6X.
I also managed to round up an older Nikon 4X which I mounted on a Henry .45 Colt. Crystal clear glass and 7 shots in 1 1/4".
All in all....a good day at the range. :D

Outstanding. I don't normally mount optics, choosing to go with peep sights, since most of my shooting is less than 50 to 75 yards, but I did recently put two Vortex scopes on a couple long guns. Performed well.

Good shooting 5shot!
I like the low powered optics as well, especially for hunting. My .357 Big Boy has a 1-4x scope, and mine just clears that front sight too.
I also have a rifled barrel on my 12 gauge Winchester 1200, with an older Simmons 2½ power scope.
A low powered scope with a heavy plex reticle is usable in very low light, a very nice thing when hunting.

Agree with the above in fact your post title of Burris 2x8 caught my attention. I have 2-7x on my Henry’s and 1-6x on AR’s. As BOM mentioned most of my shooting is 75 yards or less (the limit on my range  ). With 70 on the near horizon I’m finding I’m liking shooting low recoiling rifles and handguns.

I apologize if I am stealing the thread but if anyone is interested, I just listed a Leupold fixed power scope in the classifieds.
