I like the hammer laying there. Classic scope installation tool! :)
Funny you should say that... I actually did use the hammer to whack the plastic punch I used to drift the semi-buckhorn out. Something to only be done with extreme caution!!

Much better! That "fits" more in line with the way it should look with a scope. What's the Vortex going on?
No idea, I really like it and am torn about returning it, but that means I have to get another rifle! tee hee maybe the sig tread, I don't have any semi automatics.
Much better look on your lever action. Now, that Vortex is just calling out for an AR-15. I used to resist them but once I had one I found out how much fun they are. Learned a lesson from a buddy, only load five in the mag at a time or soon you’re just shooting to empty the mag and wasting ammo. Good advice.

I found a Vortex Crossfire 2, 1-7 for $109.00. It’s the cheaper Vortex but seems to work well and still has the Vortex warranty. Seems to fit the side gate 30-30.

For in the timber hunting for deer and black bear I think a 30-30 and 35 Remington my scope of choice is a Vari-x Leupold 1-4 because of compact size and light weight. Also used the same scopes on my Marlin 45-70 and 444. ImageMarlin 336 SC 35 Rem. 1-4 Leupold.
