Laser bore sighter

Post by ol'pole » Sat Oct 16, 2021 6:34 pm

I'm looking at a couple of laser bore sighters, nothing fancy either off Eb or Amz. fairly inexpensive. My question is do they work, are they worth the money, how accurate are they? If you have one would you recommend, ay particular brand? Red or green? :?: :?: I would appreciate any 1st hand knowledge or suggestions.

thanks

Bought a green one off Amazon by Strong Tools. Its been great for me and yes they work. Just make sure you use the tightest adapter you can and then it adjusts by turning the adapter in farther. Its easy to use. My settings usually come out on the high side because I just put the dot on the opposite wall in the basement. Ill add that I bought the green one because if you are bore sighting a red dot on a red bore scope it can be done but its easier with a green dot.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

I've used them on revolvers to see how much the gun might move off target during trigger pull. Great for trigger training!

I use one for .223 rifles as the bore is too small to do the old look down the bore method. I find it’s okay and it will get me on paper at 50 yards but just so. Like Al I use the length of my basement for the task which is limiting. With bigger bores and just looking thru the bore I get better results.

I bought the cheapest one I could find figuring I wouldn't use it very often. Like Al and Hatchdog I used it indoors and it was good enough to get me on paper which is what I was after.
I would mention that a lot of them come with attachments to suit different calibers, these are little plastic jobbers with fins. When new, these fins can have plastic imperfections/loose bits you want to pick off. I found one and was thankful it didn't come off when I inserted the tool into the barrel.
